그렇다면 1인가구의 건강 상태는 어떨까요? 2020년 국내 13세 이상 1인가구 건강 실천율은 ▲적정수면(6~8시간) 73.8% ▲정기 건강검진 76.4% ▲아침 식사 59.5% ▲규칙적 운동 39.2% 등으로 나타났습니다. 적정수면이나 건강검진은 비교적 잘 지켜졌으나, 혼자 살며 규칙적으로 운동하는 이들은 30%대에 불과했습니다. 1인가구와 전체 인구 사이 건강 실천율 격차는 적정수면 6.3%, 아침 식사 5.3%, 정기 건강검진 4.3%, 규칙적 운동 1.7% 수준이었습니다. 조사항목에 포함된 모든 건강관리 실천율이 전체 인구보다 낮게 나타났다는 점을 감안한다면, 홀로 사는 이들이 건강관리를 실천하는 데 많은 어려움을 느끼고 있음을 알 수 있습니다.같은 기간 1인가구의 유병일(질병이나 사고로 아팠던 날)은 평균 11.3일이었으며, 유병자는 0.6일을 누워서 보냈습니다. 이는 전체 인구보다 각각 1.4일, 0.1일 많은 수치입니다. 조사 기간이었던 2주 동안 1인가구 유병률은 38.9%로 전체 인구(25.0%) 대비 약 13.9% 높았습니다. 전반적인 1인가구 증가와 함께 고령인구 급증, 코로나19로 인한 병원 이용 제한 등이 영향을 미친 것으로 보입니다.
고물가 상황에 가성비가 좋은 PB(자체브랜드) 상품 등을 통해 시장을 파고 들고 있는 것도 편의점의 고성장 요인이다. CU가 지난 2월 출시 후 무려 2000만개가량이 판매된 '연세우유 생크림빵'이 대표적이다. 전체 중량의 80%를 생크림으로 채웠음에도 가격은 2700원이다.
방형애 대한보건협회 기획실장은 “청소년들은 음주장소로 중학생은 ‘친구집’, 고등학생은 ‘술집’을 꼽는다”며 “노래연습장에서 주류를 판매하겠다면 먼저 청소년 음주를 막을 수 있는 확실한 안전장치를 마련한 다음이라야 할 것”이라고 강조했다.

최근 혼밥, 혼술 등 개인의 취향에 맞춰 혼자만의 즐길 거리가 대세로 자리 잡고 있다. 국내 한 취업포털 사이트가 성인 남녀 3000여 명을 대상으로 한 설문조사 결과, 응답자의 30% 이상이 평소 혼밥, 혼술을 즐기고 있는 것으로 집계됐다. 1인 가구 증가에, 코로나19가 겹치면서 혼자서 활동하는 것을 선호하는 이들이 많아진 결과로 분석된다.
부산대 김문겸(사회학과) 교수는 "직장·학교 등에서 '우리'를 강요하던 전통적인 공동체 문화가 최근 개인주의를 넘어서면서 나 홀로족으로 발현되고 있다. 하지만 이는 사람간 교감을 나누지 못해 깊은 인간관계를 맺기 어렵다. 심해지면 이혼과 고독사로 연결된다"고 말했다.방기영 하이트진로 해외사업본부 일본대양주팀 팀장의 말이다. 실제 일본은 하이트진로의 해외사업 중 가장 빠르게 성장하는 곳 중 하나다. 이 성장의 배경에는 우리의 음주문화가 주효했다고 한다. 녹색병 소주를 소주잔에 쭈욱 들이키는 우리 소주 특유의 음주문화가 일본에서 새로운 트렌드로 떠오르기 시작한 것이다.
인터넷이 확산되기 전인 1990년대에 인기를 끌던 '만화방'도 최근 대학가에서 '혼놀족'이 즐겨 찾는 장소로 부활했다. 푹신한 소파와 먹거리가 제공되는 '카페테리아' 형태의 만화방이다.
이날 본지 취재진이 부산대 앞 거리를 1시간30분가량 걸어 다니며 발견한 동전노래방은 총 14개였다. 유명 노래 체인점인 '락휴'도 지난달 동전 노래방을 열었고, '세븐스타 코인노래방'이라는 전문 프랜차이즈점도 등장했다. 19일 기준으로 금정구에 신고된 장전동 노래연습장은 총 60개(유흥주점 제외). 전체 노래방에서 동전 노래방이 최소 23% 이상을 차지하는 셈이다.
노래연습장의 불법 주류판매 적발건수는 가파르게 늘고 있으며 접대부까지 고용·알선하는 경우도 적발되고 있다. 지난 국감에서 김수민 바른미래당 의원이 문화체육관광부로부터 제출받은 자료에 따르면, 지난해 주류 제공으로 인한 노래방 법령 위반 적발 건수는 5208건으로 지난 2015년 4322건에서 20% 이상 올랐다. 접대부 고용·알선 적발은 경기도의 경우 2016년 690건에서 작년 849건으로 23% 급등했다.

이는 편의점 신화의 원조 격으로 불리는 일본 편의점의 상황과 유사하다. 일본의 편의점도 일명 '잃어버린 20년'이라는 장기 불황에도 성장세를 유지했는데, 1인 가구의 증가가 편의점 매출에 기여했다. 일본의 1인 가구 비중은 2010년 31.2%였다. 당시 일본 편의점은 1인 가구 증가, 초고령화 등에 맞춘 상품을 잇달아 내놓으며 성장가도를 달렸다.한국과 일본 편의점은 모두 '접근성'이 높다는 공통점도 있다. 한국 편의점은 전국에 5만여개에 달하는 점포가 골목 곳곳에 배치돼 있고 언제든 상품을 구매할 수 있어 경쟁 업태보다 접근성이 뛰어나다. 각종 규제에 영업시간이 제한된 경쟁 업태와 달리 편의점은 24시간 동안 운영이 가능하다.
실제로, 이달 6일 이마트24와 짠이 진행한 ‘짠 랜선술자리’에는 400여 명이 참여하며 큰 호응을 얻었다. 이날 랜선술자리는 연예인 지상렬과 달수빈이 온라인 백일장 응모작을 살펴보고, 족집게 과외를 해준다는 콘셉트로 라이브 방송으로 진행됐다.

편의점의 구매 1인당 구매단가는 경쟁 채널 중 가장 낮다. 지난 10월 기준 백화점이 13만1908원이었고, 대형마트 5만5141원, SSM 1만7126원 등에 이어 6790원을 기록했다. 이는 저가나 소용량 상품을 편의점에서 구매하는 특성에 따른 것지만 그만큼 소비여력이 줄어든 소비자들을 끌어당긴 결과로도 해석할 수 있다.
